Micro Insurance Agency Holdings was established in 2005 by Opportunity International as the world’s first and only stand-alone micro insurance agency. As an insurance intermediary dedicated to serving poor households with affordable insurance products, we work in partnership with microfinance organizations, rural banks and SACCOs, as well as humanitarian organizations to deliver micro insurance to their client base. We also work with other social aggregators such as trade unions, professional associations, and faith-based groups. In this brokering relationship, we work with insurance companies to develop micro insurance products for the poor and negotiate affordable price structures for the insurance company, distribution partner, and client.

In addition to running a global insurance brokerage business, we also provide consultation in product design and implementation for microfinance organizations and large donor groups in countries where we do not have an operation. We also plan to sell micro insurance products directly to the public.
